Good News Everyone!

Many exciting things are happening!

First, and probably most important, all of my entries on my art journal are now public, so you can read them without a livejournal account! That means you can see lots more of my art and see my writing directory page! My art journal also has a spiffy new look for fall.

Plans are underway for a website rehaul, so in the mean time, the website has had an update in the form of a serious slim down, check it out.

Also, my DA is no longer dead, there's a flood of new art over there with some more to go up over the next few days.

And all of this doesn't even touch whats going on with my room and work space right now, but I'll save that for the next SSP post. ;)

Summer 2011 Post One:

Between ArtSlam and hanging out with friends I haven't had much time for other kinds of art, but I still have things in the works! Stay tuned.

Trees and Things:

I recently experimented with making a larger style three. Originally it was meant to be auctioned off, but it ended up coming back to live on the wall of my room for now.

Here's the finished piece.

And here's a webcam photo of me with a WIP of the tree, for size comparison.

And I finished my drawers! The bottom one is broken so it hangs out funny, so I need to paint the lip of that drawer.

My nerdyness, let me show you it.

That's all for now, folks.

Monday with Tools and Supplies:

So I don't have a lot of time to work on crafts right now with school taking a priority. I'm working hard to finish up this year of schoolwork so hopefully at my IEP meting I can be cleared to graduate this spring! But in the spare time I do have I've been prepping for all the crafts I'm going to this summer.

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

First on the list was beads! They weren't organized well and since so many of them had been used without being replaced they just needed to be sorted again. I have a ton of empty containers to fill with new beads now!
These are mulberry trimmings for a display idea I have. I need a power tool that we need to rent to finish it so for now they're just sitting around in my room.

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

I built a BBQ! The old one, which you can see on the left side of the third picture here, was almost as old as I was! So after the old BBQ tried to drop burning coals on my Mom's feet, we decided we needed a new one. We put it together the day before Easter and had cooked first meal on it Easter night.

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

Yard Sales and Estate Sales rock. Recently I got these silly charms, a giant embroidery hoop, these two sets of drawers, and this erm... clothes rack? All of this together cost me maybe $20, if that. My room is also my workspace, so its often messy and it drives me nuts! So I'm working to get more furniture where I can keep things instead of just having things stacked against walls. The drawers we're gonna paint, and the clothing rack [seriously what the hell was this thing intended for?] needs some WD40 and one of the wheels needs to be fixed, but after that its going to come in my room and serve to hold larger blankets and Afghans.

Photobucket

I also bought this. Older ladies labor over these things for hours and then they're left in piles at Estate Sales, under-appreciated, walked past, plucked out of their frames to be left behind in favor of selling the frame, etc. I just can't bare to think about thing like this being lost to the ages. This beautiful piece of art looks much better on my wall than it would in a pile in the dump, and I have a few of these and would really like to start a collection. Art is a treasure and I am happy to preserve what I can.

Feeding the Addiction:

I have been seeing crocheted T-Shirt rugs all over the internet laity and have really been wanting to do one of my own. I discovered, however, that even after cleaning my room so well and getting rid of so many clothes [tucking rug making appropriate T-Shirts into a bag to be saved, of course] that I still didn't have nearly enough material to make a rug with. I showed my grandmother Gabby, who my Mom and I are visiting, a picture of one of these rugs and mentioned my dilemma. She came to the rescue with a ton of old T-Shirts she used to use for sleeping in but doesn't need anymore. Each are in a larger size, and so, more material! Thanks Gabby!

Craft Table Update 2:

Hey lookit! A charming photo of a WIP desk shop.

And a slightly less charming one.

New Craft Table!

I'm getting ready to set up my craft space, because I finally got my new table! Its been at my Grandma's house since Christmas when I got it, but my uncle Sniffy just brought this down from the mountain for me.

I now have a delema though, because I also got the newest Pokemon game today! I chose Black and my Boyfriend Josh chose White, and we went to pick up our games this morning before he went to work and we spent part of this morning playing Pokemon together before he had to go to work.

I've still got tons of stuff to do for Phase 1 of the SSP, too, so I have lots of stuff to keep me busy before my Birthday comes!

SSP Update and Birthday Goings On:

The Super Secret Project officially has funding!

We got all the paperwork in the mail today, so all that's left to do now is go though the paperwork and get things set up. This means that the SSP might go live early next week. I would like it to be sooner but with my birthday being on Wednesday, the 9th, and my Mom's being on Thursday, the 10th, this coming week will be busy, and the weekend will be full of belated celebrations.

So, hang in there! It's coming!

SSP Update and Hint 3, Shallow Creek Update:

Well Phase One of the Super Secret Project is nearing completion. I fear this hint may be too obvious! These are rejected designs for Phase One. The one I kept combines the two nicely.

In other news, Shallow Creek has had two small updates, and a bigger one, where we learn more about Alice's mysterious family, is coming soon.

Exciting things are happening! Stay tuned for more of the Super Secret Project.

SSP Update and Hint 2:

With some luck the Super Secret Project may be live by the end of this weekend!

I still have more of these things to do, so off I go to work on the SSP some more!

SSP Hint 1:

Here is the first hint to what the Super Secret Project might be.

Websites Updates:

My old website, Notorious Stories, that had parts of the very first draft of my book, is now retired. My current website has had some updates, including a new Customer Photos section! Also the Whatopus and Crochet Commission Info pages are currently undergoing an overhaul, and are not accessible right now.

Back - Art Updates.

I'm back from Tahoe [two days ago, actually]. Well my tablet has well and truly bitten the dust. Sad. >:

In the mean time I started a new sketch book.

Which already has a few neat doodles in it.

Including craftopus.

Box of Awesome Part II.

After a lot of organizing the box of awesome is now ready to be put away to wait for when I have the proper time and supplies to play with it. Unfortunately, I found that all three tins, both butter cookie tins and the coffee tin, where rusted at the bottom, so I had to throw them away.

For now its beside the craft table, in the way of my PJ drawer. When the new craft table gets here, it will live under that.

Box of Awesome

Cisco and Chris, of The D20 crew, visited me today with a surprise. As well as the dog squeakers and fish tank I was expecting, there was also a box of awesome.

And lots and lots of pretty pearler beads.

Remember those squeakers I mentioned? Loki loved them.

Unfortunately, for now, they all need to be packed away. I've got to buy or borrow an iron and get wax paper. But I look forward to making all sorts of neat things, and one of the first things I want to make is a set of D20 dice. :3

First Post!

Except not really. This thing has been sitting abandoned for a while now, and I decided to revamp it. I wanted a place to follow other Blogger blogs, but also I needed a centralized place to serve as a news feed. So here you will find updates on artistic pursuits and announcements about Internet goings on.

And so far that's it.
